Relationship Counselling

Relationships play a crucial role in our lives, providing us with love, support, and companionship. However, even the strongest of relationships can encounter challenges and difficulties along the way. Whether you are working through relationship difficulties or you are experiencing/ have experienced  a relationship breakup, it helps to process your sense of what’s occurring and understand how best to navigate it. When conflicts arise or a breakup occurs, communication breaks down, and emotional wounds deepen. It may be time to seek professional guidance and support through individual counselling to address both your inner relationships that you have with yourself, as well as the difficulties you’re experiencing in your relationship.

Relationship counselling for individuals

Assessment

Initially, we will discuss the relationship challenges you are facing and what you hope to achieve through counselling. After we have developed some counselling goals-specifically around communication, trust, resolving conflicts, and/or any other areas unique to you and that you wish to address-we will delve a little into your background. These will provide a framework to process your difficulties in that are impacting your life and current circumstances.

Individual counselling sessions

Understanding your sense of self in relationship: your counselling sessions allow you to understand and develop your sense of self in the context of your life and also in the context of your relationship. This means processing internal feelings and emotions, and relating to the side of you that struggles. The struggles may be felt as a general uncomfortable background feeling, or they may be more front and centre, showing up as emotionally charged responses. Either way, in getting to know that side of you better, allows you to develop and take care of your authentic self in ways that are supportive and nourishing regardless of the events or relationship dynamics that are occuring around you.

Continued Support

In the beginning, weekly sessions are recommended. At some point when you feel ready in yourself, we will discuss reducing your sessions to fortnightly or monthly. This may occur after 6 sessions or after 3-6 months depending on how you are with yourself and the dynamics of your relationship. Attending regular sessions allows you to bring up relationship issues and difficulties as they arise and to work on them straightaway. Continued support for your growth and well-being are paramount to ensure and consolidate your healing process as you work through internal struggles and the relationship difficulties that have brought you to counselling.

Remember that every counselling journey is unique, and the steps outlined above will be adapted to suit your specific needs and circumstances. We will tailor the plan together to address your inner relationship’s specific challenges and help you navigate towards a healthier and more fulfilling connection with yourself and others.
